A Little Trip

Drew has been feeling down ever since that whole thing with the calls from her mom a week ago. I still don’t know anything about what happened between them, but I knew that it had to be something traumatic as hell. All Drew has told me is that because of her parents, her brother wasn’t here anymore. There were a million scenarios that played in my head but of course, I’d never know what really went down until she opened up.

But as of lately, it’s almost like she shut down.

At work, she barely says anything unless necessary, and when people ask if she’s okay, she just smiles and nods, using the excuse that she's just tired. After work, all she wants to do is cuddle with me, which of course I don’t mind, but I can always tell that her mind is elsewhere. A few times I’ve found her wiping stray tears.

I believe that even though she didn’t have a close relationship with her dad, hearing that he passed may be getting to her. Maybe not in the same way that losing my dad did, but there’s definitely some unresolved and mixed emotions. I wanted like hell for her to talk to me about it, but I also knew that I needed to let her tell me in her own time.

In the meantime, I decided to plan a small little getaway for her. Tomorrow was Christmas Day and neither of us had planned anything. Usually, I spent my day volunteering at a local nonprofit, but this year, I wanted to spend that time with Drew. I wanted to give her all of my undivided attention and shower her with love…and maybe some kisses.

So, I asked Roman to help me make some last minute bookings at a beautiful 5-star resort in sunny SoCal. My first idea was to take her to relax and unwind in Bali, but she told me that she didn't have a passport. Yeah, that’s definitely something we were gonna have to change in the new year.

As we boarded one of my two private jets, she looked around in amazement, admitting that she’s only ever flown economy on commercial planes. I smiled as I pulled her to me.

“I love that I can give you all of these new experiences. It boosts my ego to know that I’m your first for a lot of stuff,” I smirk as she turns around in my arms to look at me. Her smile was the brightest I’ve seen in over a week, and it made my heart swell.

“You are quite the romantic, Adrian,” she flirts, looking up at me. I could see the pools of honey drip from her eyes. “Thank you for doing this to make me feel better.”

“You know I would’ve also done it just because,” I tell her, and she nods. “I plan to get your mind off everything that bothers you. We’re here to destress, relax, and have some fun. So…you ready?”

“I am!” She squeals.
